Star Trek is a 2009 science fiction film directed by J. J. Abrams, written by Roberto Orci
and Alex Kurtzman, and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It is the eleventh film based on the
Star Trek franchise and features the main characters of the original Star Trek television
series, portrayed by a new cast. The film follows James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock
(Zachary Quinto) aboard the USS Enterprise as they combat Nero (Eric Bana), a Romulan from
their future who threatens the United Federation of Planets. The story takes place in an
alternate reality due to time-travel by both Nero and the original Spock (Leonard Nimoy).
The alternate timeline was created in an effort to free the film and the franchise from established continuity constraints.
Development of the film began in 2005. Filming took place from November 2007 to March 2008
under intense secrecy. Midway through the shoot, Paramount chose to delay the release date
from December 25, 2008 to May 2009, believing the film could reach a wider audience.
Star Trek has earned high critical praise, gaining a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.
It is the thirteenth-highest-grossing film of 2009 (the seventh-highest within North America)
and has become the highest-grossing film in the Star Trek series; as such, it is credited by
the media as a reboot of the series.
It was nominated for four Oscars at the 82nd Academy Awards and won the Academy Award
for Best Makeup, making it the first Star Trek film to win an Oscar.

Star Trek è un film di fantascienza del 2009 diretto da J.J. Abrams. È l'undicesima pellicola
della serie cinematografica di Star Trek e quella che ha realizzato maggiori incassi al botteghino.
Il film è dedicato alla memoria del creatore della serie, Gene Roddenberry, e di
sua moglie Majel Barrett Roddenberry.
Il film è un reboot della serie classica di Star Trek (1966-1969) ed ha per tema le prime
avventure dei personaggi della serie. Il riavvio della saga viene giustificato all'interno
della storia con l'introduzione di una linea temporale alternativa: un universo parallelo
che non modifica il continuum delle precedenti serie.
Il film è stato distribuito in Italia dalla Universal Pictures in data 8 maggio 2009.
In alcune programmazioni cinematografiche italiane al titolo è stato aggiunto il sottotitolo
"Il futuro ha inizio" (The Future Begins) per sottolineare ancora di più il distacco
che Abrams ha preso dalla serie classica.
Il film si è aggiudicato il premio Oscar per la categoria "miglior trucco" ed ha ricevuto altre tre candidature.
PLOT
In 2233, the Federation starship USS Kelvin is investigating a lightning storm in space
when a Romulan ship, the Narada, emerges from it and attacks. The Narada's captain,
Nero (Eric Bana), meets with Captain Robau (Faran Tahir) of the Kelvin aboard the Narada.
Robau is killed after professing no knowledge of the Vulcan Ambassador Spock and stating
the current stardate. Nero orders the Kelvin's destruction.
Acting Captain George Kirk (Chris Hemsworth) orders the ship's personnel evacuated
via shuttlecraft, including his pregnant wife, Winona (Jennifer Morrison), who is in labor.
Kirk sacrifices himself to steer the Kelvin on a collision course. Winona and George agree
to name their newborn son Jim seconds before the ships collide.
Several years later, a young Spock (Jacob Kogan), growing up on the planet Vulcan,
is discriminated against for being half-human. As an adult (Zachary Quinto), he declines
to join the Vulcan Science Academy, instead joining Starfleet.
On Earth, James Kirk (Chris Pine) has become a reckless but intelligent young man.
After a bar fight involving Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Kirk meets Captain Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood),
who challenges him to emulate his father's heroism and join Starfleet.

TRAMA
Una gigantesca astronave romulana, la Narada, emerge da un buco nero di fronte alla nave stellare
della Federazione USS Kelvin. La Kelvin viene attaccata ed il suo capitano, Robau, è
obbligato a trattare con il capitano della nave nemica, Nero.
Invitato sulla Narada, vi trova la morte, ma non prima di avere affidato il comando
al primo ufficiale, il giovane George Kirk. Kirk fa evacuare la Kelvin e si lancia in un
attacco suicida, riuscendo a danneggiare la Narada e dando modo a molte navette di salvataggio di fuggire.
In una di esse sua moglie, Winona Kirk, sta partorendo un bambino, James Tiberius Kirk.
Trascorrono gli anni. Il figlio cresce senza la guida paterna, diventando un ragazzo
scapestrato e temerario. Dopo una rissa in un bar contro alcuni cadetti della Flotta Stellare,
Kirk incontra Christopher Pike, capitano della nave stellare Enterprise, che, rammentandogli
l'atto eroico del padre, lo spinge ad arruolarsi nell'Accademia della Flotta Stellare.
Tre anni dopo - venticinque dallo scontro con la USS Kelvin - la Narada cattura una navetta,
la Jellyfish, inghiottita anch'essa dal buco nero ma riapparsa molto tempo dopo la Narada.
Da achab68, mymovies:Confesso che prima della visione avevo parecchie perplessità circa
l'ennesimo prodotto di Star Trek. Ho seguito la saga sin dalla serie classica e devo
ammettere che gli ultimi film erano senza mordente, senza anima, con troppi protagonisti
di una serie paludata e troppo futuristica come TNG ! Questo è risultato invece e
senza dubbio alcuno il miglior prodotto filmico di Star Trek. Grande azione, ironia,
effetti speciali perfetti e mai inutili ma costruttivi ad una storia tipicamente trekking:
l'umanità alla base di ogni cosa, anche universale. Attori perfetti e mai sopra le righe,
un cattivo di glaciale perfidia ottimamente interpretato da Bana, una sceneggiatura semplice
e non troppo cerebrale come certe "opere" alla Matrix, e per questo perfetta e scorrevole.
Insomma un film magnifico che piacerà a chi ha sempre amato la Star Trek e a chi mai
lo ha seguito. E questa non è certo un'opera facile.
